Her daughter is a queen of gloom and darkness. It is a bittersweet title for her to keep. Her crown is made of bones and dust, while Demeter had planned for flowers and gold. Still, she is proud of the power her daughter holds, and envious all the same. “I am well, my love. The seasons change and I can only work to keep the balance.”

The seasons would not have to change if she was not forced to one world. Persephone leads the way through the palace halls. They are as dark and dank as rumors say, meant to scare visitors into respect. Has Mother been through the rest of the Underworld? Has she seen the faux sun in its glory, the false flowers in the fields of Elysium? The Queen doubts it. How can her mother look down on on a world so beautiful? “The last harvest is soon, correct?”
